Peter and Sharon Brass run Cherry Tree Farm, an urban farm situated just outside Cromwell township. They grew it after moving to the area in 2012, combining Peter’s horticulture background with Sharon’s nursing career and love for community. Their aim is to “share our farm produce, time & knowledge in order to grow sustainable, connected communities.”
Visitors can pick their own sweet Central Otago cherries daily from late December through January. The market garden sells seasonal seedlings, succulents, fruit, vegetables, and flowers suited to the local climate. They also supply plants and produce to the Remarkables Market in Queenstown on Saturdays.
The farm gate opens every Thursday from 10am to 8pm between late September and late April for direct sales. You can also order online for Click & Collect from Monday to Friday. Accommodation is available in a studio or guest house for those wanting to stay on the farm.
