Trust policy

Featured policy

Featured is an editorial highlight, not a ranking and not a paid placement.

What featured means

Featured listings are used to help people start exploring the directory. They surface examples that show the kinds of practices, sourcing, or local relationships Homegrown is trying to make more visible.

What featured does not mean

  • It is not a score.
  • It is not a claim that one listing is “best.”
  • It is not a guarantee, certification, or endorsement.
  • It is not a complete representation of every strong listing in the directory.

How listings are chosen

  • Clear fit with the directory’s focus on local, transparent, integrity-first food systems.
  • Useful practices, sourcing, or relationship details that help users understand what the listing actually does.
  • Geographic balance where possible, so featured examples do not collapse into one region or one business type.
  • Editorial usefulness for the current page, collection, or country context.

Conflicts and payment

Featured placement is not sold. If a conflict of interest exists, the listing should not be featured without a clear disclosure. Homegrown’s default position is to keep editorial selection separate from commercial pressure.
