Community-focused supermarket in Nelson known for supporting local growers and stocking organic produce such as vegetables from Streamside Organics.

FreshChoice Nelson City is a locally owned supermarket that has served the Nelson community for more than thirty years. The store runs a “less than 200 km” initiative that sources produce from suppliers within a 200-kilometre radius, reducing carbon footprints and keeping produce fresh. It has been an environmental trailblazer, offering reusable bags, cardboard boxes and biodegradable paper bags instead of single-use plastic, installing energy-saving LED lighting and transitioning to electric warehouse equipment. The community fund donates $500 each month to local organisations and individuals. Open seven days from 7 am to 9 pm, the store stocks a broad range of groceries, fresh fruit and vegetables, bakery goods, meat and dairy products, including certified-organic vegetables from Streamside Organics.
