Gravel Road Farmyard is a two-hectare block just south-east of Martinborough where the owners grow flowers the old-fashioned way. Since moving onto the land in late 2021, they have established a production paddock for proteas, annual and perennial blooms, as well as a house garden with vegetables and fruit.
They focus on traditional, heirloom, and interesting varieties presented with character. You can buy hand-crafted bouquets, single stems like sunflowers and sea holly, or Christmas wreaths made from local vineyard grapevines. The flowers come straight from their paddock in Wairarapa, supplemented by other Kiwi growers during winter and early spring.
Orders can be placed online for delivery to the Wairarapa and Wellington regions. You can also pick up fresh flowers at Nara Cafe on Martinborough Square on Saturdays and Sundays, or visit the farm directly at 42 Southdown Drive.
