Dan and Jacqui Cottrell harvested their first quinoa crop in 2016. They developed the idea after travelling through South America and noticing the resemblance between Peru’s quinoa regions and Dan’s high-altitude family farm on the North Island’s central plateau.
They grow spray-free quinoa and sell white and red varieties. The grain is sold without processing or polishing. It is a saponin-free variety, which the growers describe as having no bitter aftertaste and a mild, nutty flavour.
The online shop sells 400g pouches, individually or in packs of three. Commercial supply is also available. The website has cooking instructions and recipes for savoury and sweet dishes, helping customers prepare quinoa at home. You can also use its stockist information to find the range.
