Emily Pierce and Glen Moir established Le Bon Terroir D’emj near Tenterfield, buying their 337-hectare property at Boonoo Boonoo in 2019. They produce organic pork from heritage breeds including English Large Blacks, Wessex Saddlebacks, Duroc, and Hampshire genetics, which take eight to nine months to reach full size.
The pigs are rotationally grazed on a mixture of grasses with trees for shade and areas to wallow. They fast-tracked their organic certification due to the property’s location near national parks and lack of previous agricultural activity.
Le Bon Terroir D’emj supplies wholesale to butchers from the Sunshine Coast to Sydney, including Eumundi Meats and Locavore Organic Byron Bay.
