Swann Olives is a whānau-run olive grove in Rangitukia, a small Māori settlement on the East Coast. Established in 2001, the business is guided by Māori values and organic practices. The trees grow on whenua tīpuna, ancestral land.
Brent Swann developed the idea after working at a Mediterranean olive grove in the 1980s, where growing and using olive oil involved the whole whānau. The family has since worked alongside local ahikā and drawn on whānau skills to establish its own grove. Its trees are mature.
The 2024 Frantoio and Verdale blend is cold-pressed extra virgin olive oil, with fruity, herbaceous and peppery notes. The 500ml bottle is currently marked sold out in the shop. Contact the grower about availability. Ask about the next release.
