Tony and Afsaneh Howey founded ViBERi near Pleasant Point in South Canterbury. They moved from traditional crops into blackcurrants, growing fruit on their certified organic family orchard. The region’s cold winters, mild summers and fertile soils suit the crop. The growers use the blackcurrants in powders, freeze-dried berries and other food products.
