Carterton Farmers’ Market is a community hub held in the centre of town at Memorial Square. The market was originally set up as an event, an occasion, and a “thing to go to” for regulars to catch up. It is a place where local vege growers, food producers and crafters sell their goods directly to the public.

Visitors can find regular supplies of fruit and vegetables, plants and seeds, honey, olive oil and handmade toys and crafts. The produce goal is simple: locally sourced where possible, reducing carbon-miles, maximising freshness whilst also supporting Wairarapa producers. Some stallholders, like members of the Local Growers group, sell compost-grown, spray-free produce.

The market runs every Sunday from 9:00am to 12:30pm. During Spring and Summer, it operates each week, while in Autumn and Winter it runs on the 2nd, 4th and 5th weeks. In winter or poor weather, the market moves under the veranda on the pavement of SH2 opposite.
