Caldermeade is a working dairy farm and on-site creamery in Gippsland. Jersey and goat milk are made into yoghurt, butter, cream and gelato in small batches on the property. The farm market sells these products directly to visitors. Milk and butter are among the goods to take home.
There is more to see while you are there. The milking parlour has a viewing room and a small museum, with milking shown daily at 2.30pm. Guided farm tours are available, including visits for schools and community groups by arrangement. The animal nursery, garden and children’s playground are other stops around the grounds.
The property was settled in 1875 and was once a beef cattle farm. Today its cafe has indoor and outdoor seating behind the old hawthorn hedges. Find the public farm and cafe at 4385 South Gippsland Highway, Caldermeade, south of Pakenham and Koo Wee Rup.
