Forage & Gold is a family business started by Zoe Wood’s parents in Central Otago. The team manages 5,000 hives that forage freely across the region and the Wild West Coast. They produce five distinct honey flavours: Clover, Thyme, Manuka, Vipers Bugloss, and Kamahi.
The bees are free range, gathering nectar from wildflowers like thyme and kamahi in local forests. Honey is extracted in their purpose-built facility in Bannockburn. They package their product in glass jars to support a circular system where customers can return empty jars for re-use.
Their roadside store, known as the Honey Shed, opened in 2011 and remains open every day of the week. You can visit them at 230 Bannockburn Road in Cromwell or order online for delivery throughout New Zealand.
