West Coast Wilderness Honey is a family-run beekeeping business based in Paroa, near Greymouth. Its bees gather nectar from the native Podocarp forests of the West Coast, from the Tasman Sea to the Southern Alps.
The range includes Rata Multi Floral, Beech Honey Dew and a Manuka Blend rated MGO 300. Much of the harvest is multifloral honey, gathered from native trees such as Kamahi, Hinua and Kanuka. The honey is sold raw.
The family runs a roadside stall on Rutherglen Road, Paroa. It opens seven days a week, from 9am to 5pm in winter and 9am to 8pm in summer. Visitors can buy the honey directly from this public sales point. Online orders are also available through the business’s own shop.
