Suzy and Andy Maxon started Forage Farm in February 2020 after moving to their 26ha property in Motukarara.
The farm currently has 450 hens living in a mobile chicken caravan that is shifted onto new fresh pasture multiple times a week. This low stocking density allows the birds to forage for bugs and eat the pastures outside all day everyday, resulting in eggs that are nutritionally better than conventional ones.
You can buy pasture raised eggs at the farm gate stall located at the bottom of the drive. The team also sells older laying hens and young pullet hens for pre-sale online.
